WHY a Phonetic Alphabet?

Every letter makes a sound! Phonics, teach the relationship between the alphabet letters and the unique sounds they make. When children start recognizing letters without associations, they can start hearing words when they put basic letters together. The word "hat", for example, is made of the sounds h, a and t. If your child has learned the sounds of the letters (instead of their names), they will be able to put the letters/sounds together and hear/read "hat".

You can start teaching the Phonetic Alphabet from the age of 2-3 years. Keep in mind that every child develops at their own pace and that some toddlers might be ready for the alphabet closer to 3 years of age.

    A Newborn baby's brain is approximately one quarter of the size that it will one day become.

    The remarkable sensory system is already developing in the womb, but once born, all senses develop and mature at different stages.

    Regular positive sensory input cause frequent activation of synapses in sensory pathways, which results in stronger, more memorable connections. On the other hand, when pathways are not stimulated, they can start to fade away. It is therefore vital for a baby to receive positive and age appropriate sensory stimulation of all their senses from birth, as this directly influences the maturation of the sensory system and ultimately the growth of the brain.
